Have you ever wanted to experience a Pow Wow but didn’t know where to start? Many non-indigenous people might be intimidated or feel that they might not be welcome, but as we learned after our conversation with champion dancer Patrick McNabb, Pow Wow is for everyone and everyone is welcome. This exhibit strives to remove some of the barriers in knowledge and experience that might prevent indigenous and non-indigenous communities from coming together to celebrate First Nations culture.
We are very grateful to Patrick McNabb for sharing his knowledge, personal stories and regalia in this exhibit, and for helping us to better understand one another. Everyone is welcome to visit the Museum and learn a little bit more about these remarkable cultural gatherings.
We would like to invite everyone to join us at the Humboldt Partnership Pow Wow on June 18th at the Elgar Petersen Arena. This is an historic event, as it is the first time that a celebration of this kind has been held in the City of Humboldt. Grand Entry starts at noon and the Pow Wow goes until 8 p.m. There will be craft and food vendors and admission is free. Everyone is welcome!
