Stella Koob (Mother) was born in Meacham Saskatchewan and raised on the family homestead surrounded by relatives, and friends. Almost 80 years ago she was lucky enough to attend the Emma Lake Summer Art School located at the Emma Lake Kenderdine Campus North of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She studied there during the summers of 1947 and 1948, a program offered by Normal School (Teachers College) at the University of Saskatchewan. Her influence, teachings and love of art have been passed down through the generations.
Her body of work was exhibited for the first time to the public in 2019. It is a cherished collection of oil paintings and charcoal drawings now owned by the Loehr Family. The family hopes this exhibition will inspire others and will also represent the history and beauty of Saskatchewan. 

Rita Loehr’s (Daughter) work shows the connection between humans and their surrounding environment, depicting commonalities and differences between the two. The work will zero in on a recognizable subject and then portray it from a different perspective. This approach offers the viewer a chance to review and revisit both current experiences and memories from the past. She works in acrylic and watercolour painting and printmaking. Her mother’s influence set her on the path into the world of art and exploration of different styles.
