When the Trees Crackle with Cold: pīsimwasinahikan

April 1 @ 10:00 am - May 22 @ 5:00 pm

Title: Nocihitowipisim by Miriam Körner

Come and experience an artistic celebration of the Cree way of life in Northern Saskatchewan at the Humboldt and District Gallery!

Miriam Körner and Bernice Johnson-Laxdal have collaborated to bring us When the Trees Crackle with Cold: pīsimwasinahikan. The show is inspired by the traditional Cree moon calendar and Bernice’s childhood memories of growing up with her thirteen siblings in ile-a-la-Crosse, celebrating northern Saskatchewan and its people.

According to Korner: “it is an homage to a unique place, where we can all learn important lessons about respect for the land, each other, and move towards a common understanding of northern Saskatchewan’s history and our personal place within.”

This exhibit is part of the Organization of Saskatchewan Art Councils’ (OSAC) Arts on the Move program.  To learn more about this program click HERE.
