The Humboldt & District Museum & Gallery offer a variety of free enrichment programming to local and regional schools every year!
Current programs include:
Guided Walking Tour at Original Humboldt
Offered in the spring and fall.
Learn more about the pre-settlement history of the region. Bring your class to Original Humboldt for land-based learning. Original Humboldt is a historical site that teaches us about many overlapping histories, including Red River carts and the Carlton Trail, the Dominion Telegraph line, the 1885 North-West Resistance, and Chief Whitecap and the Dakota Nation. Located 8pm west of Humboldt, turn south onto Telegraph Rd.

Old School Program at the Museum
Offered September to June.
Explore Humboldt’s history at the Museum! What was school like 100 years ago? What was life like in a country farm house? Play with old fashioned wooden toys and explore some hands-on items from the Museum’s collection!
Old-fashioned ice cream demo and sampling available upon request for $1 per person (minimum $15).

History Mystery at the Museum
Offered from May 8 to June 26, 2025
Best for grades 3 to 8.
Solve the mystery of what happened on the day Alexander von Humboldt visited in this time machine! Students will work in teams to solve each piece of the mystery.
Old-fashioned ice cream sampling available upon request for $1 per person (minimum $15).

Spirit of Nature: Looking Beyond Yourself at the Gallery
Offered from May 6 to June 20, 2025
All grade levels welcome.
During this program, students will view Phyllis Poitras-Jarrett’s stunning Métis beadwork-style paintings and create their own dot art inspired by her work. This program is available in person or online via Zoom. This exhibit is made possible through OSAC’s Arts on the Move program and the Humboldt Area Arts Council.
