Quilt on Loan From Haus of Stitches
When Wendy Toye, owner of Haus of Stitches in Humboldt, began quilting in support of the families affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, she was not expecting it to become such a big operation. Originally, the plan was to make only enough for the families affected. However, it soon became apparent that it was not just the families who were impacted, but also first responders, medical professionals, community members and other hockey players. With that in mind, Toye then created a post on social media in hopes that more people would want to contribute to the cause and did they ever! Soon after, quilts of support began to pour in from across the country and around the world. Quilts came from places such as Brazil, England, Australia, Qatar, and the United States. To date, there have been 3,500 quilts received.
