Humboldt: The Heart of Hockey

Bill Brownridge is an artist who has been painting for over seventy years. He was moved by the tragedy and wished to express his condolences through art. His favourite subject matter has always been kids out playing hockey. He says: “My passion to paint hockey comes from watching and reveling in the spirit of the game – the speed, the strength, the skill. Yes I do enjoy watching the pros, but my real love is the game you might only glimpse from the corner of your eye. Maybe it’s in the back yard, the back alley, the back 40, the backwoods. Kids that only have skates and a stick. They will never make the big team – probably they’ll still be playing pickup hockey when they’re fifty BUT BE ASSURED, they will be the ones buying tickets to watch this great game of hockey.” B-3107
