Exhibits and Events: Annual Events
Humboldt Regional Heritage Fair
The Historica Heritage Fair program is an educational initiative that provides an opportunity for students from grades 4 to 9 across Canada to explore any aspect of Canadian heritage by creating a dynamic history project for public presentation.
The Museum is part of the coordinating committee for the heritage fair program in Humboldt. At the Humboldt regional heritage fair, held annually in early May, students are chosen to represent Saskatchewan at the National Heritage Fair. Fifteen Saskatchewan students enjoy a week long cultural excursion at the national fair in July. For further information about the Historica heritage fair program, check out www.histori.ca. To participate in the youth heritage fair program throughout Saskatchewan or for further information, see www.saskyouthheritagefair.com.
Festival of Wreaths
The Festival of Wreaths is an annual fund-raising event sponsored by the Friends of the Museum. Businesses, community organizations and artisans can support this event by donating a wreath, swag, centerpiece, or quilted item to be auctioned.
The possibilities are infinite. Items can be swags, wreaths, centrepieces, or sewn. Your item can have any theme--recycled, floral, traditional, silly, seasonal, spring, mechanical, a favourite hobby or kids creations.
Sew something special. You could stitch up something festive like a spring table runner, placemats, seasonal wall hanging, tree skirt, patchwork quilt, ‘stain glass’ picture, Christmas tree decorations or stockings--the choices ‘seam’ endless.
All donated items will be on display for two weeks prior to the auction in early December. Silent auction and reserve bids can be made throughout this display. All items will be sold at the Gala auction. Please check the Humboldt Tourism schedule of events for current dates.
Make this Christmas season extra sweet with some home-made baking. You can donate food items to the Festival of Wreaths. You could put together:
For food items that are perishable, we will develop a written description that will be posted during the Festival of Wreaths display. These food items can be brought to the auction venue by 2:00 pm on auction day.
